bio

A border child at heart, AnaYamel was born and raised in Tijuana, México, where her love for cinema converged with a strong social conscience. She graduated from London's Met Film School, establishing a career in the UK, where she directed her first narrative short film THE CELLIST. In 2013 she moved to New York City, where she continued to pursue her career as a director. She produced and directed award- winning content for organization like UN Women, Hillary for America, and Planned Parenthood. Her work is centered on lifting female voices. Her most recent short, LA JUANA is a love letter to her Hispanic roots; the loud, passionate, humorous, colorful, dramatic and romantic culture. Winner of 2 Telly Awards in 2021 and Webby Award Nominee. Based in Los Angeles.
