The Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles is proud to invite you to the screening of Healing Art Mexico, Healing society through art.
In addition to the screening we will be exhibit a selection of the art pieces showed in the documentary.

Synopsis/Sinopsis
Can art help heel emotional and even spiritual wounds? That question is at the core of Cicatrizarte /Healing Art. In the beginning we have a country torn by violence and distrust. From there we follow the path of 16 children, all of them orphaned by the violence in México, all of them sons and daughters of federal policemen and policewoman who died in the line of duty. Then the path leads to 8 policemen and woman who have been permanently injured in ways that changed their lives, also in the line of duty. All their stories are full of sorrow and pain. But trough their contact with art, a world of new possibilities for healing appears in their lives. If art can do this for individuals, can you imagine what it could do for the whole country?
¿Puede el arte ayudar a sanar emocional, e incluso espiritualmente? Esta es la pregunta que da origen a Cicatrizarte. Al inició tenemos un país roto por la violencia y la desconfianza en las autoridades. De ahí, seguimos el camino de 16 niños y niñas, todos ellos huérfanos cuyos padres murieron en hechos violentos. Todos ellos hijos de policías federales que murieron en el cumplimiento de su deber. Seguimos con 8 policías que fueron heridos en formas que les cambiaron la vida, también en cumplimiento de su deber. Las historias de todos están llenas de dolor y amargura. Pero a través de su contacto con el quehacer artístico nuevas posibilidades se abren en sus vidas. ¿Si el arte puede hacer esto por los individuos, qué podrá hacer por todo un país herido?
