Join Tucson-based ensemble, the Arizona Wind Quintet as they present the program Homenaje a México or “Tribute to Mexico.” This concert of music by all Mexican composers will celebrate diverse voices in music, ranging from playful to mysterious.

The program pays tribute to the Mexico City Wind Quintet’s commitment to the creation of new works, including music by composers Ana Lara, Charly Daniels, and Federico Ibarra. Also featured is the well-known Danza del Mediodía by Arturo Márquez and folk-tune setting by José-Luis Hurtado.

The Arizona Wind Quintet (AWQ) is the faculty ensemble-in-residence at the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music in Tucson, Arizona. Formed in 1977, AWQ has cultivated a tradition of excellence in both performance and teaching. In spring 2018, AWQ held a residency at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City.
