bio

Mariangela Vogliotti was born in Santa Barbara, California. She could always be seen drawing in journals or – unfortunately for the teachers – on her homework. She often found herself frolicking on the “grassy-green” pavements of her childhood apartment, her imagination a hungry creature, fueling her imagination to work until her world was filled with cotton candy skies and peppermint trees. Even though art was her favorite pastime she wasn’t really sure what to do with her future. At one point, she even claimed to want to become the president of the United States…that is until she posed the important question if she would have to do math as president. Which, of course, is a yes. Swiftly she decided that for the benefit of the United States she would perhaps explore other careers. As Mariangela grew a bit older and bit more of a contained mass of energy instead of a crazy proton on the loose, she found a bit more passion for art. Then, when 2020 hit art became a lifeline in the swiftly spiraling out-of-control world. Her path to studying at the School of Art Institute of Chicago was put on hold. She took the route of community college in the meanwhile. That very year she was diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder. As a reader, this might seem like a crazy plot-twist placed by your ever loving author. However, life is just as sudden and sharp as any plot-twist. And, as Mariangela began to learn more about her illness and learn to love herself all over again, she found an outlet in art to channel all her rage, confusion, hurt, and self-loathing into. As she experimented with different mediums, she found an interest in channeling her voice into speaking about mental illness and the emotions that accompany it. Present day, Mariangela works on combining neuroscience and art. This is to create a land that is not only emotions-based, but also fact-based. This journey is still a work in progress and contains more failures than she would hope, but she hopes to help others with her work and research. Currently, she finds herself hoping to transfer from community college into a university. She attended art school for one year but felt the strain of being far from her past life and decided it would be best to move back. She also has displayed several works in galleries. One including the Mexican Consulate. Overall, Mariangela has had a funny little rom-com of a life, but less romance and more comedy
