"I am a self-taught artist of Cuban and Mexican descent, yet I am an American. I am extremely proud of my cultural heritage, sometimes I feel so Cuban, and sometimes I feel so Mexican. My heart sings for joy when listening to Cuban music, as it sings for joy when listening to mariachi. It´s in my soul, it´s who I am. Often my paintings, I try to capture my cultural heritage. I´m married to an incredible man, who keeps me grounded. I have three amazing sons. My father was a political refugee from Cuba and my mother, a Mexican immigrant. My parents worked ever so hard to give my siblings and I a different and better life than they had growing up in their home countries.  I paint everyday because my art liberates me. As cliché as it sounds, I feel alive when I paint. It´s my moment. My hope is that you walk away after seein my paintings with the desire to tell your story, with the desire to think about your personal and unique life and journey. As crazy and complicated as it may be, it´s your story. This is a glimpse of mine.  My paintings are often painted with the most vibrant of colors which represent to me, the awesome energy of life. I want people to feel the energy and emotions that raidate from my paintings. My paintings are a reflection of my life, my journey, and of the things that are important to me, as influenced by my surroundings: people, places, cultures, and things that I love."

"Soy una artista autodidacta de ascendencia cubana y mexicana, pero soy estadounidense. Estoy muy orgullosa de mi herencia cultural, a veces me siento completamente cubana y otras veces completamente mexicana. Mi corazón se alegra al escuchar música cubana, al igual que lo hace al escuchar mariachi. Está en mi alma, es lo que soy. En mis pinturas trato de capturar mi herencia cultural. Estoy casada con un hombre increíble que me mantiene centrada. Tengo tres hijos maravillosos. Mi padre fue refugiado político de Cuba y mi madre inmigrante mexicana. Mis padres trabajaron incansablemente para darnos a mis hermanos y a mí una vida diferente y mejor que la que ellos tuvieron en sus países de origen. Pinto todos los días porque mi arte me libera. Aunque suene a cliché, me siento viva cuando pinto. Es mi momento. Mi esperanza es que al ver mis pinturas, quieras contar tu historia, reflexionar sobre tu vida única y tu propio camino. Por complicado que sea, es tu historia. Esta es una muestra de la mía. Mis pinturas suelen estar llenas de colores vibrantes que representan para mí la energía impresionante de la vida. Quiero que las personas sientan la energía y las emociones que irradian de mis obras. Mis pinturas son un reflejo de mi vida, mi camino y de las cosas que son importantes para mí, influenciadas por mi entorno: las personas, los lugares, las culturas y las cosas que amo."
