Emilia Cruz is a first-generation Mexican American artist born in San Diego, CA, in 1993, and currently living in Simi Valley, CA. She attended Art Center College of Design and teaches art to kids at Plaza de la Raza’s Cultural Center in Los Angeles. Cruz has been commissioned by CNN en Español for Proyecto Ser Humano, Netflix’s Gente-fied, and designed a mural for Selena: The Series. Her latest work, featured in the exhibition Futuro Pasado with Rick Ortega at Boathouse Gallery, has received critical acclaim.

 “My work exemplifies the importance of representation, specifically as a woman of color. I am exploring different ways in which I can depict vulnerability, self-healing, and empowerment.”

Emilia Cruz es una artista mexicano-estadounidense de primera generación, nacida en San Diego, CA, en 1993, y actualmente residente en Simi Valley, CA. Estudió en Art Center College of Design y enseña clases de arte para niños en el Centro Cultural Plaza de la Raza en Los Ángeles. Cruz ha sido comisionada por CNN en Español para el Proyecto Ser Humano, la serie de Netflix Gente-fied y diseñó un mural para Selena: The Series. Su último trabajo, presentado en la exposición Futuro Pasado con Rick Ortega en Boathouse Gallery, ha recibido excelentes críticas.
