EL JIMADOR TEQUILA PRESENTS

At the Mexican Center for Culture and Cinematic Arts

of the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles

Soccer, for a long time and nowadays more than ever, is a sport that can be found in almost everything we see, read and hear. For many soccer represents a way of life, a factor of identity or a passion that gives meaning to their everyday life. For children and adults is a playful illusion that has been materialized in endless of objects and materials whose collection and study is fundamental to understand a part of what we have been and what we are.

This summer, the Mexican Center for Culture and Cinematic Arts is proud to present Goles y Pasiones (Goals and Passions), an exhibition that brings together unique pieces of major football collections from Mexico; but mainly it is a sincere tribute to the characters that have given meaning to our devotion to this sport: the players.

The show also includes video footage and emblematic photographs of celebrations at the Angel of Independence in Mexico City along the piece “Inguesu” by Enrico Chapela, based on the final game of the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup, when Mexico won over Brazil at the Estadio Azteca.

The passion and the footprint left by football in the hearts of all, has been an inspiration for the most talented, and it was essential to include in the show works of artists who have created the art pieces inspired in soccer, so Goles y Pasiones will count artworks by Demián Flores, Conrad Ruiz, Macos Ramirez Erre and a collection of balls designed by Francisco Toledo, Guillermo Olguin, George Mead Moore and Castro Leñero.
